Suspected Islamist militants launched an attack on the village of Nagalue, located in the Macomia district of Cabo Delgado province on Wednesday, November 14. According to local reports, one villager was killed, another injured, and 19 houses burned down. Similar attacks can be expected in Cabo Delgado province in the near-term.

Context

The Ahlu Sunnah Wa-Jamo/Ansar al-Sunna (Shabaab) group is suspected of carrying out the attack. The group, operating in Cabo Delgado province since the October 2017, has been blamed for carrying out various attacks against local residents, businesses, government installations, and security forces members.
