US: Madison (Wisconsin) prepares for more flooding August 24

Wisconsin's capital city of Madison is bracing for more flooding Friday morning (local time), August 24. The areas around the city's isthmus, between Lake Mendota and Lake Monona, are expected to be the most effected. Due to high water levels from previous storms, Dane county officials are increasing the amount of water passing through Tenney Park Dam, which is expected to increase the water levels of the Yahara River by 7-15 cm (3-6 in), increasing the likelihood of localized flooding near the river. The neighborhoods of Marquette, Tenney-Lapham, Emerson East, and Sherman Terrace are the most at risk. Road closures and transportation delays are possible.

The city experienced flooding from storms on Monday, August 20, which washed out roads, damaged homes, and resulted in the death of one man.
