Warning

Event

Employees of Northern Rail (a.k.a. Arriva Rail North) are planning to hold 24-hour strikes on August 25, September 1, September 8, September 15, September 22, and September 29. The strikes, all taking place on Saturdays, are part of a long-standing dispute over train personnel. Significant disruptions (reduced services, delays, overcrowding) are to be anticipated along the Northern Rail network on strike days. Increased road traffic congestion is also possible if large numbers of travelers are forced to seek alternative means of transportation.

Context

Northern Rail serves destinations in northern England and southern Scotland.

Advice

Travelers are advised to plan alternate routes and allow for extra time to reach their destinations during the strikes.
