Unionized rail workers plan to strike nationwide August 16; disruptions to SNCFT service expected

The Tunisian General Union of Labour (UGTT) announced that a general strike will be held by rail workers on Thursday, August 16. The strike is expected to cause service disruptions for the national rail operator, SNCFT, throughout the country. Negotiations are ongoing between UGTT representatives and the SNCFT as of Monday, August 13. The strike was initially scheduled for August 2 but was postponed to allow for the talks.
