Sri Lanka: New tourist police posts to be deployed
25 new police posts to be set up in main tourist destinations

Authorities announced on August 13 that 25 new tourist police posts would be established in the county’s main tourist destinations. Members of the Tourist Police Division will receive new uniforms and will be instructed to develop more friendly relations with foreign tourists.

Tourism industry has become one of Sri Lanka’s main industries and is expected to continue to grow in economic importance in the coming years.
Advice
As a reminder, foreign nationals need a visa to enter Sri Lanka. Short stay visas - Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) - are available online; these visas are issued for a maximum period of 30 days. It is also possible to receive a tourist visa upon arrival.
