China: Tropical Storm Yagi to hit Shanghai area August 12

Event

Tropical Storm Yagi, also known as 18W, is forecast to make landfall south of Shanghai on Sunday, August 12, bringing heavy rain and high winds. As of 02:00 (local time) on Saturday, August 11, the storm was packing maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h (40 mph), with the center of the storm located at approximately 24°18' N, 130°48' E. Consequent flooding, as well as associated transportation disruptions and power outages, are possible in the Shanghai area in the coming days.
