Bahrain: Unauthorized protests and possible clashes June 1-2

Opposition groups plan unauthorized protests from June 1 to June 2 could lead to clashes between protesters and security forces

Shi’a opposition groups in Bahrain have called for protests on Thursday, June 1, and Friday, June 2. On Thursday, protests are scheduled to take place in Sitra at 22:45 (local time). Protests on June 2 are expected to take place in Barbar at 22:00. Violent clashes between demonstrators and security forces may cannot be ruled out. Expect increased security measures around the protetsts.

Bahrain's Shi'a Muslims accuse the royal family and the government of marginalizing their community. Protests often take place in locations across Bahrain on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and regularly result in violent clashes.
